1.A serious problem faced by any researcher who is on the question of the tides and sea levels, especially in search of that elusive concept known as 'sea level' (MSL) or "Zero Point of the Sea" (as Captain James Clark Ross, Century 19 British Antarctic explorer, called it [36]). Not only is it difficult to determine MSL true in any one location, is even more difficult detect any changes occurring at this level. For example, imagine trying to measure mean sea level in a surf beach in Hawaii. Sea level and tides work for long timescales, but the essence of the problem is very similar. Study of sea level has become more urgent importance to predictions of rising sea levels that could result of global warming as a result of increased emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2) [23]. http://www.john-daly.com/ges/msl-rept.htm 2. they very often are reached depths of over 700 meters and stay submerged for 18 minutes. http://www.antarcticconnection.com/antarctic/wildlife/penguins/emperor.shtml 3. The weather balloon data that have been collected has been launched daily from many of the Antarctic research stations since 1957.
