3/6/9 Omega supplements are not the same level of mercury are found in fish?
ignorant semi probing questions, but I need to be sure. I am 4 months. Preggers and have always been good eating habits, but I would like to incorporate a diet rich in DHA to help my little bun developing brain. My doctor suggested staying away from large portions of fish altogether, with emphasis on those with large concentrations of mercury. I'm thinking of starting Omega 3,6, 9 or supplements, but I'm not sure what the source Omega supplement use (such as eggs, oil seeds, krill, fish or just mostly). The reason I need to know is twofold: a) my lack of understanding of what proportion of mercury found in fish oils, and b) an allergy to certain types of fish (mainly called "points.") What are your suggestions in the capsules of Omega and other potent complement what (without fish) diets rich in DHA do you recommend? Thank you very much!
Can – Do you have to be careful when choosing a supplement. During pregnancy, you probably would lean away from oil supplements fish for this reason. Some supplements are safer than others, but when the EPA is very strict recommendations for fish consumption during pregnancy, and fish are extracted from the oils are high in fat, cold water fish tend to contain more mercury than others, I feel safer with other sources. (Also, many supplements fishy side effects, which have disgusted me during pregnancy. Coromega is an exception — that does not cause any problems fish burp.) I have my omegas mainly through linen. NO flaxseed oil or capsules. Oils oxidize quickly once extracted from the seeds, which means you get enough oil nice, but one that does what you want. Instead, crush or grind them just before using. I put 'em in smoothies, yogurt, sprinkle on them … whatever. They have the advantage have a nice little fiber, too – it never hurts when she was pregnant (or any other time, I guess.) Have a happy and healthy baby!
