Question for people with bipolar disorder?
I have no idea when I'm manic. I am totally dependent on other people tell me and try to control me. This is unfair to them, so I was wondering if anyone has any strategy: a) recognize when they are manic and b) the management of bipolar. Now I am taking citalopram and olanzapine, as well as omega 3 with 600 mg of EPA and DHA in it. I am also seeing a counselor and a psychiatrist. I've known idea of what kind self-management techniques is that I can do besides this. The Internet is vague about everything. But what I really want to know is how am I supposed to know when I'm manic. I have a list with things like "how many hours I sleep?" Etc in it, but I just dismiss it and not realize until later. I want to miss it. I think I'm in a good mood, I think I'm in perfect control and my choices are fine. it is not until later that I realize what is I made a mess of things. Strategies need lol.
This is one of the most difficult skills to learn attention to yourself! My son has BP and use the list, too. Are there certain behaviors or activities that only during a maniac? Unfortuanately, is really a personal process that requires lots of practice to recognize when things are not right. Journal can really help, depending on how you are receptive. Both the psychology and counselor should be able to help to prepare a plan of how to recognize the mood swings and what to do about them.
