How long does it take for fish oil to work when it comes to alleviating depression?

I am bipolar, and am currently in a bad major depressive state. My psychology told me to take Omega-3 fish oil in very high doses, among other drugs. I wonder if it has an immediate effect, or if it works as anti-depressants and takes weeks to accumulate in the body and do anything? My psychologist – in charge of my medications. He has given several of his patients with great results. There have been many studies done – it works for many people. I wonder how long it needs to work.
