Cod liver oil Fish oil versus what is the difference?
need help – Cod liver oil states containing vitamin A, which can deplete the absortption of vitamin D and thus affect your bones, but if you look at the back of a bottle of fish oil, the label clearly does vitamin A status, only EPA and DHA omega 3. But the label of cod liver oil vitamin A clear, so if you take fish oil is that vitamin A in the fish oil? cod is a fish too, so how could not the cod liver oil vitamin A status of fish oil and says nothing about Vitamin A? I'm hoping that the fish oil does have vitamin A in it …… thanks … tim
Fish oil comes from fish other than cod, as Atlantic salmon and taken by their content of DHA that has benefits for the brain. Both DHA and EPA have heart benefits. Cod liver oil is taken mainly for their vitamin A and D and some of the cod liver oil is actually fortified with vitamin A and D to form a capsule containing 4,000 IU of vitamin A and 400 IU of vitamin D. There can be perhaps a little vitamin A in oily fish, but if there would be negligible as it never gets a mention on the packaging. As far as I know vitamins A and D do not collide and vitamin A does not deplete your levels of vitamin D.
